Nannette Nocon: Patron of the Arts and Culture

Welcome to Threadlines, our monthly blog celebrating and spotlighting our ardent fans. This month's pop-off queen is Nannette Nocon, a local business owner, beloved patron of the arts and culture, and author of Yuk and Yum, a series of children’s books with whimsical illustrations by John Kastner.

When I opened the boutique, Nannette was one of my first customers.  Not only did she shop at Mansawear during my first Park Avenue Arts Festival in 2014, but she has also continued to be an ardent and purposeful supporter and lover of elegant, sophisticated, colorful garments. The author of What's Up With Yuk? is one of the most intentional people I’ve met. Her intentionality shines through in her purposeful actions and mindful relationships.

As a local business owner, Nannette works closely with her clients to help them pursue their goals based on their unique situations. She has built several mindful relationships within the greater Rochester community through her talent, treasure, and time. She has served on boards of local art and cultural institutions such as the George Eastman Museum, Geva Theater, WXXI and the RPO.  She has supported exhibitions at the Memorial Art Gallery, and Rochester Contemporary Art Center including the beloved annual 6x6 among others.

Her book "What's Up With Yuk?" helps children and adults discuss negative and positive choices. Throughout the year, her team offers work experience for high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students. During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Nannette ordered masks in bulk from Mansawear to distribute to her clients. For the past few years, she has sponsored the George Eastman Award which has honored actors such as Jodie Foster, Goldie Hawn, and Michael Douglas among others.

My life has been enriched by observing how intentionality shapes lives through my relationship with Nannette. Join me in celebrating a true patron of the arts and culture, and a cherished friend!
