Welcome to Threadlines, our monthly blog dedicated to celebrating and spotlighting our passionate supporters who inspire our brand. For this special edition, I’ve combined two months—December 2024 and January 2025—into one post, as a tribute to someone who perfectly embodies the spirit of both years: Theresa Mazzullo. As I bid farewell to 2024 and embrace 2025, it feels fitting to highlight Theresa as she has been the perfect muse. Not only did she inspire me to launch Mansawear, but she also represents the perfect balance of business, fashion, culture, and community.
Theresa and I were gym locker mates at the now-closed Carlson YMCA in downtown Rochester. For those who know her, she's the paragon of fashion, elegance, and chic. When she suggested I transform my personal style into a business, I listened intently —and that led to the launch of Mansawear. My style is a unique fusion: incorporating Mansawear garments crafted with modern-themed Ghanaian fabrics and blending them with mix-and-match pieces from my existing wardrobe, what I call “The Mashup.”
As both my muse and friend, I’ve witnessed how Theresa’s open-mindedness shapes her perspectives on culture, community and fashion. She has a remarkable ability to analyze situations both individually and within their broader historical, cultural, or socio-economic contexts—and respond thoughtfully. For instance, I’ve seen her host fundraisers and community-bonding events for a wide-range of friends across the spectrum. And I’m not the only person to benefit from Theresa’s largesse. She mentors and supports a variety of budding entrepreneurs and young professionals. For Theresa, the key words are “friend” and “community.” She also had the vision to see how bold, unfamiliar patterns and vibrant fabrics could bring new energy to Rochester’s wardrobes, inspiring me to turn that idea into a business.
As we step into 2025, I’m excited to have Theresa by my side, offering her advice in her effortlessly chic Mansawear mashups. Here’s to My Muse!
